10 Date Ideas That Don’t Cost Money

20Shares

When it comes to dating someone new, it really depends on a few things when it comes to how elaborate you want those first few dates to be. For some people, money is not an object, and definitely not an issue. For others, it’s either an issue, they’re frugal, or they don’t want to spend too much on dates too early on, and before knowing certain things about a person. It’s important to have an open mind when dating and deciding what to do and where to go. If someone’s intentions are pure and they’re truly hoping to find their match, they’ll be more open-minded as to where you go together. Remember, whatever you decide to do, putting effort into things is imperative.

If you have the option of going on dinner dates, then I suggest you do that for the first date at least. It’s just a preferred environment for many reasons such as candlelight, music, and it shows that you want to woo her so to speak. Many times there will be food or drinks involved which will add to the conversation, and you can get to know a person’s likes and dislikes that way as well.

Despite whether or not you go out for dinner on a first date, there are many other types of dates that you can try if your date is open to it as well. A lot of times people take advantage of others, and it’s truly unfortunate when it comes to dating. It’s important to know whether or not a person’s intentions are pure and good. Usually, only time will tell. It’s important to ask certain important questions on the first phone call with a person, and definitely while on the first couple of dates. You should find out who a person is, what their goals are, and if you ultimately want the same things.

There are many reasons why someone might want to have drinks for example, as opposed to having dinner on the first or second, or even a third date. For some, that reason is many times because they don’t want to be taken advantage of by having someone date them to get a free meal so to speak. Let’s assume that the person you’re dating has pure intentions. I decided to come up with a list of a few dates that are free, and won’t dig into your wallet too deeply. If money is an issue for you, your date, or despite the reason that you don’t want to spend very much money on a date, these dating ideas might be helpful to keep in mind.

Here’s the list:

1. Go on a Picnic

If you go on a picnic, in the same manner that I believe that during early dating a man should take the lead, despite what you do or where you go, the same rule applies here. If you’re a man, make sure your date is comfortable and prepared to be in that “picnic” type of environment. As well, make sure that you bring the essentials which would usually be a blanket, drinks, snacks, and you can even dress it up by adding your own ideas such as a flower in a tiny case. Cheese and wine picnics are many people’s favorites, and remember, effort is what really counts.

2. Walking

Go on a stroll by the beach, or anywhere really. The point is to be with someone that will appreciate and enjoy your company, so it’s not supposed to be about the place, but the person is what’s most important. If you see that the chemistry is flowing, you can even offer to take her hand, if she’ll accept. Remember, while walking and chatting away, it’s a date, not an interview, so make sure that your questions are not all interview-like questions. Get to know the person’s hobbies, and whether or not you have many common interests. Again, during the date, find out what their ultimate goals are and make sure that they’re aligned with yours. If you’re by the beach, rent a couple of bicycles, rollerblades, or even stop off for an ice cream cone.

3. Community Events

There are always free events in every community that you live. Just as I’ve written before, effort is important, so you’ll need to put some effort into searching for free events in your area. Many times there are free events such as outdoor movies, live music, and sometimes even museums have free admission depending on the time of day.

4. Go on a Tour of a Winery/Brewery

Many times wineries give you free tours, so you’ll just need to ask. They’ll usually provide free samples with hopes that you’ll purchase a bottle. It’s a great way to talk, laugh, and spend time getting to know one another. Just remember not to get too tipsy on a first date. You can find out whether or not your date is a “super taster” or likes the same types of drinks as you.

5. Go to a Farmer’s Market

Going to a farmer’s market for a date can be loads of fun. They’re a great way to get to know one another, and even taste some samples here and there. Perhaps you can even get a basket of berries and cop a squat along the side somewhere. So bring a bag with a blanket to sit on, just in case. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up feeding each other berries.

6. Cook Dinner Together

If it’s a first date, your date might not be open to the idea of coming to your home. If they’re open to the idea, and whether or not it’s a first date, you can cook dinner for them, or you can even cook together. Cooking together can be a lot of fun. Don’t forget the candles and music!

7. Stargazing

There’s nothing more beautiful and romantic than when the darkness of the sky is filled with bright, sparkling stars. Go stargazing with your date. If you live in the county of Los Angeles, head to The Observatory which is known to be an LA hotspot, and an incredibly romantic environment. Look for shooting stars together, and make a wish. If you start your date early enough, you might even be able to catch a beautiful sunset.

8. Get Physical

I said get physical, not intimate, you perverts! Boy, oh boy, look who has a dirty mind. Do something active like play basketball, go to a park, or bring a couple of baseball mitts, and balls. If it’s a beautiful day outside, go shoot some hoops by the park, or go to the park itself and sit on the swings. If the weather is bad, there are many indoor recreational centers that you can play basketball or even swim at for free. If you’re into baseball, perhaps you can go to the batting cages.

9. Indoor Activities

Do some research about indoor activities in your area. Many times if you go during the day, you’ll find that things like bowling, ice-skating, and things of the sort are usually much less expensive. It usually depends upon the time of day that you go. Just make sure to find out first, and before the date. Going on a less expensive date or a free date for that matter doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put effort into it.

10. Go Fruit or Berry Picking

You’d be surprised at how much fun picking berries together can be. Just make sure that your date is prepared to get messy. Do some research to find out different places where you can pick berries and fruits. They’ll usually only charge a few dollars, and they’ll hand you some baskets to pick berries for yourselves. There’s no time limit, which is great, and it can be a lot of fun with the right person.
