There are so many endless diets on the market and it’s always hard to choose which diets to try, if any. Rather than diet, I believe that the best thing you can do to stably lose weight and maintain a great body is to make a choice to live a healthy lifestyle, as opposed to depriving yourself of foods that you love. I decided to make a list of 7 things that can help people lose weight. Of course, there are many ways a person can lose weight, but I believe that these seven are right on top of the list!
Here’s the list:
Eating grapefruit burns more calories while consuming it, than it actually gives you. Eating a grapefruit for breakfast can be a great source of potassium. Just be careful if you have any blood pressure concerns and make sure that you’re not on any medications that eating grapefruit could have a bad effect on them. Grapefruits make you feel full because they’re high in fiber. In case you didn’t know, foods that are high in fiber prevent constipation, and help you maintain healthy digestion. Grapefruits are very low in calories as well, and as we all know, the way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. I’d always suggest eating low calorie foods, when you can.
2. Apples with the skin on
Apples are definitely a superfood and in my opinion, one of the best fruits that there are on the market. The skin of an apple and of most foods is one of the most nutritious parts of the food. The skin contains most of the dietary fiber that makes the apple easier to digest. When your body starts craving sugar, instead of going for the pastries and candies, eat some fruit. Apples are known to have very minimal calories and when you eat the peels, I truly feel like it cuts them down by half. An amazing effect that apples have, like grapefruits (see above), is that an apple makes you full, because the peel is high in fiber.
Water is important for everything and your entire body. Our bodies are made up mostly of water. I recently heard that drinking 8 glasses a day is debatable on whether it’s good or bad now. I’ve also heard that drinking too much water now isn’t the best thing for you and that you should just drink when you’re thirsty. There are way too many opinions on how much water you should drink and I think what it all boils down to is that you should drink a lot of water, but not too much, so that you won’t be running to the bathroom every five minutes.
Water flushes bad toxins out of your body, and provides life and a glow to your face, hair, skin, and nails. When it does so much good for your body on the outside, imagine what it does for your body on the inside. Water helps you digest the food you eat better. Most foods have a high quantity of water in them, but eating food is not enough to get the adequate amount of water that your body needs. It’s important to stay hydrated, especially when you live in warmer climates. Remember to choose water over high sugar, fructose, and any other types of soft drinks and beverages that aren’t good for you, or that are questionably good for you. Water is good in any form and if psychologically drinking water that you buy in the store, like Evian makes you drink more water, then by all means, buy Evian.
4. Green tea
Green tea is a natural diuretic. It’s like taking a water pill. Green tea is known to have amazing benefits for good health and weight loss. Green tea has just enough caffeine in it, which is a stimulant to help you burn fat. As well, it won’t make you all jittery the same way that coffee will. Green tea is known to having anti-aging benefits for it’s richness in catechins. Catechins lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and increase blood flow.
Green tea is also known to have an immense amount of antioxidants. There are no studies that I’ve seen that prove that green tea has a definite weight loss effect. Having said that, see what happens when you drink a cup of green tea after every meal, and tell me that you won’t start to lose weight and feel great! Hey, if you add sugar to your tea, all bets are off! Stay away from added sugar!
5. Healthy snacks
Snack on raw vegetables. Suck it up and don’t go for the junk food! Grab a carrot, peel it, and eat it. The best way to develop a taste for healthy food and raw vegetables is to start juicing. The more you juice, the more that you’ll get used to the taste of whatever vegetables that you’re putting into the juice. When you start making it a habit of choosing healthy snacks over junk food, you’ll not only lose weight, but you’ll feel great! You can even tell in someone’s skin when they eat healthy, compared to when someone eats bad food, by breakouts and premature aging.
6. Take a multivitamin
I truly believe that when we take a multivitamin, we don’t crave as many bad foods. I think that our cravings change depending on what vitamins and minerals our bodies are lacking. For women, taking prenatal vitamins as a daily vitamin would be my best suggestion, even when they’re not pregnant. I find that they’re amazing for your hair and nails, and for all around good health.
Prescription strength prenatal vitamins have a DHA capsule that you’re supposed to take with the vitamin, and the prenatals have more folic acid which is beneficial for pregnant women. They’re good for a baby’s development and they help prevent birth defects. It also helps prevent many other things like colorectal cancer and many other types of cancers as well. Folic acid or folate has many benefits like the prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease, Diabetes, and it’s known to be good for your heart. These days, I believe that over the counter prenatal vitamins are just as good to take, but it doesn’t hurt to get some that have more folic acid in them.
I know what you’re thinking, obviously exercise had to make it onto the list. But, of course it has to be on the list! But, here’s what I think. You will never have your body look toned and beautiful the same way that it will look, if you work out in combination with eating a healthy diet. In case you haven’t heard, skinny is out and healthy is in! For any body type that you may have, keeping your body toned and fit looking is essential in being healthy. Haven’t you noticed that some of the very thin people out there for some odd reason, still have cellulite! Well, it’s likely that they’re only watching what they eat, and not working out. You have to put in the hard work to get the results that you want. If you hate working out, you will need to push yourself and make it a habit. If you go overboard, then you’ll likely get burned out quickly, and give up.
Go at a pace and level that’s comfortable for you. Don’t worry about what other people think, and find an exercise regimen that works for you. At least, do something that will get your heart rate up and try to stretch in the beginning. After your body gets used to having more movement than it usually does, start walking. Once you start walking, start to slowly build up your pace and the duration of your walks. When you start to become ready to do more, I’d suggest doing squats, lunges, and pushups. The fact of the matter is, you don’t really need to go to a gym. Doing home work outs will suffice, and be more than enough, as long as you stick to your personal regimen. Don’t be lazy, and get off of the couch! Have a great workout and learn to love and embrace your beautiful, healthy body as you attain your goal.
