Be Fearless, and Go After What You Want

We all have certain characteristics that are unique to us as individuals. For some people, they tend to be a bit more shy than others. Being shy doesn’t necessarily mean that someone isn’t confident. On the contrary, someone that’s shy may not only be confident, but even arrogant if that’s their personality type. However, as we all know, arrogance can be pretty ugly, and being humble can be something so beautiful. When someone is humble, you can feel it, and see it through their actions and in what they say. We tend to view a humble person as being on such a deep and beautiful level of enlightenment. Having said that, we all have our strengths and our weaknesses. Some of us are simply better at doing certain things than others and vice versa. We all have things that were really good at. But sometimes, we’re too shy to go public with our talent, or with whatever it is that we tend to excel in.

It’s important to embrace all of the wonderful qualities that you hold, and to be confident in sharing the beauty of who you are, and what you do to the world without fearing that you’ll come across as a fool or as arrogant. We need to rid ourselves of the fear of being judged or disliked. We should all be proud of who we are, what we look like, our personalities, and for all of our differences. What’s special about each individual is the fact that they’re different, and unlike anyone else. You may have certain qualities that other people aren’t fortunate enough to have. You might have a talent that others would find so appealing, and even to the point where you could become inspiring to them.

In order for people to truly grow from within and embrace who they are as individuals, they need to explore different hobbies, different interests, and see what appeals to them the most. In doing so, they might even find out that they have a genuine talent in certain areas in which if they hadn’t had an open mind or explored those things, they’d never know. If you never explore or try new things, you’ll never know just how capable, creative, and talented you are in different areas. We all have different gifts that we’re born with. Some of us need to work hard at those gifts, but at least they’re fortunate enough to have them from birth. Some people simply aren’t gifted with the same types of talents that you might’ve been. However, we all have special gifts, and we should all be open-minded, and fearless to a certain extent so that we can find out what it is that we’re really good at.

For me personally, as I’ve gotten older I’ve found myself to be more fearful in different areas, that I have to admit, I’m a bit too shy to say. I have an easier time writing, expressing my feelings, communicating how I feel, and what I want. In doing so, I try to be considerate in how I affect others around me when. But even though I’m good at communicating myself to others, and even though I’m able to share my thoughts with my readers, there’s still a shy component to my personality that many times I must face. We all have our fears, and I’m no different than the next. I have them too. In fact, I’m afraid to sing in public. I used to when I was young. I had solos and sang in front of many. But now, and despite how much my mother tells me to, I struggle with it. I keep my singing for my showers, and my lucky neighbours that tend to overhear. Those darn eavesdroppers! So this is one particular fear that in time, I hope to let go, and before it’s too late.

Despite how good or talented at something  you might be, we all usually have to work on our gifts, practice, and work hard towards maintaining and improving it, regardless of what it is. I don’t believe in forcing people into getting rid of their fears by confronting them with whatever they’re afraid of. That can be truly frightening to many people depending upon how sensitive they might be. If anything, that could provoke a reverse type of effect, and because of it, a person might never be open to trying to face their fear on their own. We all need to do things when we’re comfortable, in our own time, and at our own pace. No one should force anyone into facing their fears if they’re simply not ready to do so.

If you have arachnophobia, and someone throws a spider on you, I think it’s completely wrong and cruel. This is obviously just one tiny example. But, one thing that’s important to remember, and that’s the fact that we should all try to open our minds, our hearts, and learn new things. We should all be able to experience what this beautiful world has to offer. We need to awaken our souls to some type of realization where we’re not afraid to express ourselves in regards to who we are, and share our gifts with the world if that’s what we really want to do. Like I said before, I still struggle with this in certain areas. I hope that one day, I’ll face my fears, and I hope that you will too. It would be a shame for you or I not to be able to share our gifts with one another.

If you’re an incredible dancer, but you only dance in the privacy of your own home, trust me when I say this, the world is missing out, and if you’re good at it, then the world is missing out big time. Despite what gift you might have, you should never be afraid to share it with anyone for fear of being judged or disliked. Everyone is always going to have an opinion, despite what you do, despite what you look like, and despite how talented you might be. We should all strive to fight our fears by looking them straight in the face, and telling them, “I love myself, I like who I am, and I’m not afraid to stand proud before the world, with hopes that some people will find my talent and gifts appealing, and maybe even inspirational.”

If your dream is to do something with your talent, but you’re too shy, afraid, and insecure about it, you’re not living your life to it’s full potential. It’s imperative that we lead our lives in a way that we feel confident, secure, and as a whole person. We should develop a sense of fearlessness when it comes to being judged or disliked by others. We should all be able to go into situations and experience life with optimism, and a positive and open-minded outlook. We should never be afraid of negative things that people might say once they see who the real you is, and what you’re capable of. Let the sparkles shine in your eyes and be true to yourself, because if you really want something bad enough, while you’re the one holding yourself back, you’ll always wonder what could’ve, would’ve, or should’ve happened if you actually tried without fear.

  1. Yes, I agree that facing your fears & not letting them hold you back is important, though I struggle with it. I really hate that thing of people trying to force you to face your fears, though.
