Painting your bedroom is always challenging, but fun at the same time. It’s super important because your bedroom is supposed to be your little shelter from the cold, cruel world, and you want it to be cozy warm, and beautiful. However, it brings you a whole lot of options to choose from, and it can be a bit overwhelming. So, for those of you who have found themselves at a loss for which color to choose, here are some suggestions to hopefully make it a bit easier for you.

1. Plan, Plan, Plan

The first thing you need to think about is the furniture you have in your bedroom. Which colors will suit it best? Do you have any intention of changing your furniture, and if you do, what kind of color will work for it? Next, think about the amount of natural light your bedroom receives and choose the colors accordingly because you don’t want a gloomy room to be the first thing you face every morning. Consider the size of the room. If it’s quite big, you may want to use darker colors to make it seem cozier and warmer. On the other hand, if it’s very small, you’ll want to paint it in light shades, to make it seem bigger.

2. Pick Your Favorites

Choose a color you like in general, and then simply adapt the hue to the room. It’ll go a long way in making you feel welcome and satisfied in your little corner of the world. Bold colors are not usually meant for bedrooms. However, if you’re a fan of bright colors, but they don’t match your furniture – who cares? It’s your room, and it’s your comfort you have to think about. Remember the purpose of bedrooms – they are here to help us relax and unwind, so don’t let some textbook idea of a bedroom stop you from exercising your right to do as you please.

3. Be Creative

If you’re feeling a bit playful, the bedroom is the perfect place to show your creativity. Living rooms are too big of a risk, as they are usually frequently visited by friends and family, but the bedroom is your little heaven. Want to try out some DIY tricks you picked up on the Internet? The bedroom is your space. Do you have some really elaborate ideas on what you want your walls to look like? Bring them to life. Of course, some of these things may be difficult to pull off, so may need some professional assistance. In such cases, you may want to find some trusted experts, such as A Professional Painting Services. That way you can ensure that your bedroom looks fantastic, and has that personal feel to it that’s so important when you want to relax.

4. Use Color Psychology

Color psychology is so useful that marketing experts have been on it for the past several decades. It can manipulate the consumers, so why not use it in your home to manipulate your mood as well? For example, blue is a great color for relaxation, unless you use it in a big room that’s slightly on the cooler side during the winter months. In that case, the room painted in blue can come across as cold and uninviting. Red is warm but can cause anxiety or aggression, and it can also make your room smaller than it is. Yellow is a lovely, uplifting color. In the right shades, it can lift your spirits and make you optimistic. In the wrong shade, however, it can cause anxiety and fear, so it’s not a good choice for a bedroom.

Hopefully, some of these tips have made the choice a bit easier for you. Remember – the bedroom is all about you, so do what you like, and have fun!
