Having a full-time job while raising kids can leave you little time to bond with your little ones. From running errands, through spending countless hours at the office, all of that may affect your relationship with children. However, if you make an effort to juggle all the obligations, and learn a little bit about time management and organization, you’ll have no trouble dedicating at least 10 minutes a day to your kids. In case you need a little bit of inspiration, we have a few suggestions how you can spend quality time with your children.
One of the best ways to spend quality time with your children is to start your day 10 minutes earlier. Dedicate this time only to your child, and do stretches together, talk about your dreams from the night before, or do your morning hygiene together. Furthermore, let them assist you in making breakfast for the whole family, talk about your plans for the day, and just enjoy each other’s company for those special 10 minutes each morning.
While the morning routine is great for chatting about the future plans, bedtime rituals will help you and your child bond even more. You can tuck them in their bed, and have them tell you all about their day, and what made it so special. If they’re still up for a bedtime story, make sure you read their favourite one and lull them to sleep. You can wash your faces and brush your teeth together at night as well, take some time between dinner and bedtime to read a chapter of a book together, help them with their homework or watch your favourite show together.
Spend time in nature
What better way to spend quality time with your children than to go outdoors and enjoy nature side by side. Whether you decide to go for a walk, take your pet with you and play with them too, or maybe do some exciting activities together, nature will help you bond more. If you enjoy riding a bike, consider getting one of the Riese and Muller cargo bikes so you can take your little one for a ride, in one of the loads that you can attach to the vehicle. You can also spend time exercising outdoors as well. Go for a jog, or play volleyball, football or any sport that your child enjoys.
Let them help you and learn along the way
Children love to be sidekicks in any venture their parents are taking, so if you’re going to bake some cookies, let your little one watch, give them some dough so they can craft a little pastry of their own. Not only will they learn something new, but they’ll be so proud of their little cookie too. This will be an invaluable life lesson for them, so make sure you let them watch and participate in any housework that’s safe for them.
Play games with them
One of the easiest ways to spend quality time with your kids is to do what they like best ‒ play games. Whether it’s playing a video game, a round of chess, or maybe putting the puzzle pieces together, as long as you’re spending time together, it’ll be time well spent.
Spending time with your children may seem like a huge undertaking, but it’s essential for their healthy development and invaluable for both of you. Therefore, make sure you dedicate at least 10 minutes a day only to your child, and once you make that 10 minutes, you’ll see that it can be even an hour or even more because nothing is more precious than knowing you made your child happy for spending quality time with them.
