Wax melts are a great way to make your home smell amazing. Whether you’re looking for something sweet and fruity, something earthy and grounding, or something fresh and clean, wax melts can be a perfect choice. But before you use them, it’s important to make sure you know how to use them safely and effectively. Here are some tips everyone should know before using wax melts.

Safety First

Before we get into how to use wax melts properly, it’s important to first understand their safety precautions. It is important to only use wax melts in approved melters or warmers that have been tested and labeled as safe for use with wax products. Never leave a burning candle unattended or near flammable materials. Keep out of reach of children and pets at all times!

How To Use Wax Melts

Using wax melts is easy! Simply place the block of wax in an approved wax warmer, and once it has melted down, the scent will begin to fill the air. It’s important to keep an eye on the wax as it can become too hot if left unattended for too long. Once you have finished using the wax melt, simply turn off the warmer and allow it to cool completely before removing any excess wax from the bottom of the warmer.

Choose Your Warmer Carefully

The type of warmer you choose can have a big impact on how well your wax melts work. Ceramic warmers usually work best because they evenly distribute heat to the wax melt. Electric warmers are also popular because they don’t require a flame, but they may not distribute heat as evenly as ceramic warmers do. If you do opt for an electric warmer, look for one with a large surface area so that the hot plate will come into contact with as much of the wax melt as possible.

Use the Right Amount of Wax Melts

Using too many wax melts at once can be dangerous—the more wax you use, the hotter it gets in your warmer! The ideal amount of wax for most warmers is about two tablespoons or enough to cover the bottom of your warmer without touching the sides. Too much wax will cause your warmer to overheat and could potentially become a fire hazard.

Be Careful When Adding Fragrances

If you want to add additional fragrance oils or other fragrances to your wax melts, proceed with caution! Some fragrances may not be compatible with certain types of paraffin or soy waxes, so it’s important to research which ones are safe before adding any extra ingredients. Additionally, never add essential oils directly into your melted wax—they should always be diluted first by mixing them with an oil-based carrier like jojoba oil or another vegetable oil.

Wax melts can be a great way to add scent to your home without having an open flame. However, it’s important that you take precautions when using them – choose the right kind of warmer for optimal results; use just enough wax; and, if desired, add only compatible fragrances that have been diluted properly in order to avoid any potential hazards. Following these tips will help make sure that you enjoy all the benefits of using wax melts while staying safe!
