Why Learning to Love Your Body Is a Lifelong Journey



Feeling comfortable with your body should be a natural experience, but, unfortunately, not everyone feels this way. You may feel uncomfortable in your own skin or even dislike your appearance for some reason. Let loving your body be a positive journey by finding ways to embrace it.

Live a Healthy Lifestyle

One reason why you may not like your body is because you don’t take care of it enough. Living healthier can give a person energy, motivation, and a positive mindset. Stick to a healthy diet by eating more fruits, vegetables, and nuts instead of candy bars, greasy hamburgers and fried chicken.

You may even want to consider the health benefits of adopting a vegan or vegetarian diet. Save innocent animals from harm and feel like a better person. Besides this, take your mind off of negative body issues by practicing spiritual techniques like yoga, meditation or prayer. Exercise your brain and exercise regularly for improved health and well-being.

Focus on Yourself

Negative thinking often leads to petty thoughts about self-image. Learn to be positive on a regular basis by being grateful instead. Use a daily journal to write down a few things you’re grateful for. Find different ways to stay positive by reading inspiring quotes, doing a creative hobby or spending valuable time with family.

Practice self-care by taking care of your soul, mind, and body. Focus on what really matters, such as self-improvement or volunteering, in order to live a more meaningful life. You have the right to take control of your body and life by using botox to treat a medical condition, enhance your appearance or feel better about yourself. Plastic surgery or makeup shouldn’t be used as a cure-all attempt to get others to finally love you. However, if it’s something that will help you feel more confident with yourself then you should consider your options.

You can work with a therapist to change your worldview. You can work with a doctor to change your health. You can work with your loved ones to maintain boundaries and keep certain topics such as your body off-limits. Remember, everybody is different so what may have worked for someone else may not be what works for you.

Be Yourself

Not being yourself can cause self-hate, depression and other issues. Love yourself for who you are by doing activities you genuinely enjoy and spending time with the people in your life who love you as you are. Express your feelings in a healthy way through creative activities like painting, creative writing, cooking or drawing. Being yourself means never allowing anyone to change you, bully you or bring you down in any way. Those who don’t treat you like a person don’t deserve you. If you worry about changes from hair-loss to acne, there is no shame in wanting your exterior to match how you want to see yourself.

Loving your body requires committing to caring about yourself as who you are internally. Letting superficial feelings control your life will only bring about self-hate. It’s easier to love yourself by letting go of the past and focusing on moving forward to a better future. However, you should also not shame yourself for being proactive in changing things about yourself. It’s a delicate balance. That’s why you should care about who you are and what you think about yourself.
