For many people, getting out of bed in the morning is a real struggle. But it doesn’t have to be! Follow these five tips and you’ll start to enjoy those early hours in no time. You may even be able to turn into someone who looks forward to your morning routine.

1. Get Enough Sleep

This may seem like an obvious one, but it’s important to get enough sleep if you want to feel rested and energized in the morning. Depending on your age and sleep habits, you should aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night. This may mean going to bed earlier than you’re used to and switching up your nighttime routine, but your body will thank you for it!

2. Create a Routine

Another way to make mornings more bearable is to establish a set routine that you can follow each day. Wake up at the same time every day, brush your teeth, eat breakfast, and so on. Soon enough, your body will get used to this routine and mornings will become easier. Make sure you also include something in your routine that you look forward to. This will make it easier to get out of bed in the morning and help you be more motivated.

3. Exercise in the Morning

Exercising first thing in the morning is a great way to wake yourself up and get your blood flowing. Even just a quick walk around the block or some simple stretches can make a world of difference. Plus, you’ll start your day feeling accomplished! If you are someone who struggles to motivate yourself to exercise, find an accountability partner. Try working out with a friend or sign up for a workout class.

4. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

What you eat for breakfast can also affect how you feel in the morning. Make sure to include some protein and healthy fats in your breakfast to help keep you full and focused until lunchtime. You may also want to include a cup of coffee to your breakfast. This will give you an added energy boost. It can also be part of your morning ritual and become something you look forward to. Purchase a 2 lb bag of whole bean Colombian coffee so you are always stocked up on beans.

5. Allow Yourself Some Time to Adjust

If you’re not used to being a morning person, it’s important to be patient with yourself as you transition into this new lifestyle. It may take some time to get used to getting up early, but stick with it and soon enough you’ll be greeting each day with a smile! Start off by setting your alarm just 15 minutes earlier. You can slowly work your way up to waking up earlier and earlier until you meet your goal.

Making the switch from being a night owl to a morning person can be tough, but it’s definitely doable by setting some small goals and habits! By following these five tips, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying those early hours in no time at all.
