You might have been trying to focus on living a healthy lifestyle. As a part of this, you might not go out for dinner and drinks as often as you normally would. It’s easy to feel guilty when you go out if you’re trying to live a healthier lifestyle, but there are lots of things you can do so that you can go out and have a good time without feeling bad about it. These are a few things you can try.

1. Do Something That Isn’t Related to Eating

If you’d like to get out of the house and have a good time, then you might instantly think about going out for dinner or drinks. However, you can always do something that isn’t related to eating. Going to see a movie or concert or participating in some type of group activity could be a good alternative. Instead of eating and drinking while you’re out, you can have a healthy meal before you go.

2. Go Out for Smoothies

One great way to treat yourself without blowing your diet is to go out for smoothies or smoothie bowls. Load up your smoothie or bowl with lots of healthy toppings. Then, you can enjoy something tasty, and you can make sure that your body is getting the nutrients that it needs, too.

3. Be Mindful of Portions

There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with eating cheat foods every now and then, particularly if you are mindful of portion sizes. Consider ordering small or child-sized portions of fattening foods, and avoid having more than one or two sugary cocktails or caloric beers. This can allow you to enjoy a few favorites without really blowing your diet or feeling any guilt. You might also want to order something indulgent, but share it with your friends. This will help you eat smaller portions while still having fun with your friends.

4. Prepare Earlier in the Day

If you’d like to splurge on your favorite cheat foods when you do go out, and if you don’t want to have to restrict your portions too much, you can prepare them earlier in the day. Eating a lighter breakfast and lunch can help you “save” calories for your evening meal, for example. You should still eat earlier in the day, just choose lower-calorie options that are nutrient-dense.

5. Get in Some Exercise Afterward

If you end up splurging while you’re out, this doesn’t mean that you have to feel guilty. After you eat dinner, consider going for a nice, long walk through the city. This will give you a chance to take in the sights and sounds, and it will allow you to burn some calories and get in a little exercise.

As you can see, there are a few ways that you can enjoy going out for a night on the town without feeling guilty. Implementing these tips when you go out is a good way to continue having a good time with your friends while still focusing on living a healthy lifestyle.
