Fibromyalgia is also known as fibrositis is a chronic disorder that causes muscles and bones pain along with fatigues and cognitive issues. These pains are widespread which is difficult to spot on. Even doctors misunderstand the exact problem and sometimes misdiagnose the condition. Even doctors have to guess the problem depending on the patient’s verbal report. No labs or image testing can be done when you go for diagnosis. A patient may not have all the symptoms related to fibromyalgia, he or she may have some other medical problems also. The only help is the list of symptoms which may or may not match in case of any particular patient. 


Symptoms of Fibromyalgia 


Pain All Over the Body:


The pain is throughout the body, feels like a burning sensation or an ache particularly back and neck. 


Extremely Sensitive Body Parts
:


A few points of your body become extremely tender and sensitive to pain even the slightest touch is painful


Fatigue
:


It can range from mild to extreme tiredness. Extreme tiredness may come suddenly and completely throw you on the bed. 


Improper Sleep:


Fibromyalgia may affect your sleep. You may feel tired even if you had a long sleep. 


Morning Stiffness:
 


When you wake up in the morning and being in the same position for a long period of time causes stiffness and pain. 


Cognitive Problems or Fibro-Fog:


This is related to psychological problems. The patient may have trouble remembering and learning things. 


Irritable Bowel Syndrome
:


IBS upsets digestive system, causes pain and bloating in the stomach leading to constipation or diarrhea. 


Other Symptoms
:


A few other symptoms include Anxiety, Numbness in arms, hands or feet, Headaches, Problems with peeing, Painful menstrual cramps.

The exact cause of fibromyalgia is not clear, its diagnosed on the basis of few factors which include: 


Central Nervous System’s Abnormal Functionality:


Theories show that people develop changes in the way their nervous system processes.  It transmits pain information all over the body through specialized cells network. This results in constant pain and inflammation.

Low-Level Hormones:


Doctors have found that patients suffering from fibromyalgia have low levels of hormones like noradrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine in their brains. These hormones are responsible for the proper functioning of sleep, stress, mood, appetite or behavior. 


Improper Sleep: 


Improper timing of sleep or pattern may cause fibromyalgia.  It’s not just a symptom it can be a reason also. 


Genetics: 


It’s possible that genetics may be the reason behind the development of fibromyalgia.  


External Triggers: 


Fibromyalgia may trigger by an injury, a viral infection or because of some psychological stress like the breakdown of a relationship or the death of a loved one.

There is no cure for fibromyalgia rather the treatment eases some of the symptoms. Treatment concentrate on pain management. You might have to try a different combination of treatments that going to work for you. Only medication is not going to work even lifestyle change is important to improve your quality of life.
