Stress is our daily companion. We just have to admit this fact. But, we have ways to deal with it that can reduce our anxiety in just one day.

Sleep One-Hour Longer Than Usual

If you truly want to detox your life from pent up stress, you should sleep just one hour longer than you usually do. You might be inclined to sleep in and stay in bed all day, but it won’t rid you of stress. Instead, wake up almost at your usual time and start your stress detox day right. There are many things to do so, wake up early.

Don’t Touch Your Phone

During your regular wake-up-and-go-to-work days, the first thing you probably do is to check your phone. Many people do that right after we open our eyes and realize it’s time to wake up. By now, after years of scrolling through social media, it’s like an involuntary action. This time, when you turn off the alarm and resist the urge to press snooze, don’t take your phone with you. Stay of tech for a stress-free day. You won’t miss anything, and you will have more time for things that will definitely do you good and fill your day with positivity. For the rest of the day, stay off social media, don’t check your work emails and don’t play Candy Crush on your phone. Break off your phone addiction because it’s another thing that stresses us out.

Eat the Stress Away

This day is all about giving our body, mind and, soul a chance to cleanse stress. One thing that can benefit this trio is food. Food is good for the mind, it energizes the body and nourishes our soul. For breakfast, pick something like a leafy green smoothie with added a great vegan protein powder. Mix a banana, some baby spinach, some pumpkin seed, a scoop of protein and, some almond milk. This mix will keep you full for longer and boost your energy levels. For lunch and dinner go for a healthy meal that includes protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Keep your meals light but also nutritious so your body can release stress.

Play Some Music

Music moves us, soothes us, turns silence into happy moments and above all, reduces stress. If you are in the mood to dance, play some oriental music. Just go with the flow, and dance like no one is watching. Spend at least 20 minutes dancing the stress away. After this, change the music to some jazz, or even classical music. The whole point behind this is to listen to music that has the calming effect so you can even close your eyes and meditate on it. Make sure some light tunes are playing in the background throughout the day so they can stimulate you in the most positive way.

Sweat It Out

Movement is like kryptonite to stress. So use this weapon to end stress and have a lot of fun along the way. Physical activity stimulates the brain to release serotonin, dopamine, and endorphin which increase the feelings of happiness after a workout. Sign up for
Muay Tai fitness lessons so you can release these neurotransmitters and reduce stress more easily. The perfect combination of resistance training and elements of martial arts will improve your strength, flexibility and give you the chance to release stress.

Be Creative

A creative project will put your mind at ease and put you in a state of calm. An activity like coloring for adults will be the chance to focus on the present moment. You won’t allow any stressful thoughts to sneak up on you because you’ll be focusing on the task at hand. You can focus on coloring amazing shapes while you listen to some soothing music in the background. All creative projects can reduce stress and anxiety and give you a chance to pursue your passions. Painting, drawing, sewing, pottery and even cooking can make you feel less stressed.

Stimulate Your Senses

Take a hot bath as a part of your wind-down routine. Add some essential oils to stimulate your senses and enjoy the muscle relaxing sensation. Spend at least twenty minutes soaking in the hot bath and have a glass of wine. Try to close your eyes and relax as much as you can with slow and deep breathing.

Journal Before Bed

Once you finish putting lotion after a hot bath and get dressed it is time to journal a bit before going to bed. This activity will conclude your one-day stress detox routine. Write down 5 things you are grateful for. Also, write a short message to your future self for the next time you plan on doing a stress detox.

We don’t have to wish for a getaway when things get hectic. All we have to do is spend at least one day on activities that will diffuse all our stress.
